The Road to Recovery
In January 2020, Australia endured some of its worst bushfires ever.
I was deployed to the frontlines as a financial counsellor …
The Aftermath of Australia’s Worst Bushfire Season
The 2019/20 bushfire season in Australia was widely described as one of the worst ever seen.
Over 25 million acres burned. Over 3,000 homes destroyed. And tragically, 33 lives lost.
Yet that was just the start.
As a bushfire victim myself, I know that the real struggle continues long after the bushfire hits … as fire-ravaged communities struggle to rebuild after the devastation hits and media attention focuses elsewhere.
Which is why I was one of many financial counsellors who volunteered to travel to the frontlines and help communities who’d lost everything to take those first steps towards recovery.
The Road to Recovery depicts my work as a financial counsellor and shines a light on some of the life-changing work these unsung heroes do, day in and day out.
